RIP Robert V. Remini

It is with great sadness that today I learned of the passing of Robert Remini.  Robert Remini was a fabulous historian on President Jackson, and published a great book on Henry Clay.  I read his Henry Clay book and was fascinated by Mr. Remini’s deep historical knowledge base.  After I received my Eagle Scout award, my parents sent him a letter telling him that I was a big fan.  He replied with a very kind letter of commendation that remains one of my favorites.

Robert Remini is certainly the kind of historian that needs to be further read.  He reported both sides of stories, and truly sought to understand why people acted the way they did, not attack their practices.  He seemed to master the art of history, and his lessons will continue to serve as exemplary guidelines to future historians.

We at Reckless Historians would like to offer our sincerest condolences to the Remini family.  May he rest in peace.
